Now before I show you why your answer is important, let me tell you about another tool I tested that boosted response in my tests. Perhaps you've heard of "tear sheets." If not, in direct mail a tear sheet is an advertorial-type "article" that looks like someone tore it out of a magazine or newspaper. You can see an example of one I generated with a little-known tool on the web to the right. That took me about 5 minutes to make. This tool is slick. It'll let you choose a headline, the name of a newspaper, and your content, of course which you'll use to promote your product. Images like this that help advance the sale are very powerful when used to their full potential. Think about it! When an "article" about your product is "torn out" and pasted alongside your sales copy, it's a very potent (but subtle) selling device indeed! It grabs your prospect by the collar and forces them to read it And if you're like me, sometimes you just have brain fart after brain fart when it comes to thinking up a convincing headline. Or perhaps you throw yourself at a sales letter, writing away for days just pouring sweat and blood into it, only to have dumb things like useless cliches or unconvincing drivel clog up your masterpiece. (My Instant Headline Generator and Cliche Scanner can help you out with those problems. I'll tell you more about them in a moment...) Maybe you have trouble getting your web pages to look right. You know, when you copy and paste your sales copy from Microsoft Word, you get all those garbage tags Word likes to throw in there. Maybe you need a good WYSIWYG web editor — one that will axe those Word tags for good. What about video and audio? Want to use them to sell? (I mean the right way). On one site I tested, the version with video outpulled the no-video one by nearly 2 to 1! And paying a monthly subscription just to put your audio on your website is so 2006. That means if they click on it or use it, you know it's been read, unlike a static message where you don't even know if they saw it or not. Plus, I'll let you in on a little secret... if they interact with any of these tools on your website, you know your headline did its job. How's that, you ask? Well, the purpose of a headline is to do one thing only: to get your sales letter read. That's it. It's not meant to try to sell them at that point, but to get them to start reading so your sales copy can do the job of selling. If they start interacting with your site, then obviously your headline accomplished its goal. Well, you can include your default content as well that shows up before they click on a choice (kind of like the message you would have written there if you didn't have the tool). On this page I let you go back and change the option you chose, but you can lock them into their first choice if you want. That way, if they go back and change their selection, the message doesn't change again... it only changes on the first selection. (But they won't know that—in fact, they won't know it changes at all—because of the stealth approach you'll take... by altering the sales letter dynamically below the fold, where they can't see it!)
